Higher levels keep the code readable when part of it is dirty or covered by a logo, but make it denser. Auto: H with a logo, otherwise M.

What is a QR code generator?

A QR code generator turns a website, a Wi-Fi password, contact details or a message into a square code that people scan with their phone camera. They open the link, join the Wi-Fi network or save the contact without typing anything.

The WebToolsMe QR code generator is completely free and needs no account. Your codes are static, which means the content is written into the code itself: they never expire, aren't tied to a subscription and keep working for years. Choose colors, patterns and corner styles, add your logo and a "Scan me" frame, and download the code as PNG, JPG or SVG for print.

How to create a QR code

  • Pick a content type: website, text, Wi-Fi, vCard, email, SMS, phone, WhatsApp, location or event.
  • Enter the details: the QR code updates as you type.
  • Design it: choose a pattern, corner style, color or gradient; upload your logo and add a frame if you like.
  • Test it: the "Test scan" button reads the code like a scanner would and confirms your design works.
  • Download: save it as PNG, JPG or SVG at 512, 1024 or 2048 pixels, or copy the image to the clipboard.

Types of QR codes

  • Website (URL) QR code: links to a menu, product page, campaign or social profile.
  • Wi-Fi QR code: guests join your network without typing a password. Ideal for cafés, hotels, offices and homes.
  • vCard QR code: name, company, phone, email and address saved to contacts in one scan.
  • WhatsApp QR code: opens a WhatsApp chat with your number and a ready-made message.
  • Email, SMS and phone: opens a pre-filled email or text, or calls a number.
  • Location: opens a spot in the phone's map app.
  • Event: adds a meeting, wedding or webinar to the calendar in one scan.
  • Text: shows a short note, code or instruction, even offline.

QR codes with a logo and colors

Match the code to your brand: six dot styles (square, soft square, dots, fluid, diamond, leaf), separate corner frame and corner center shapes, a single color or a gradient, different corner colors, and a transparent or colored background.

For a QR code with a logo, upload your logo. The tool clears the middle automatically and raises error correction to the highest level (H) so the code still scans. Frames (bottom label, top label, speech bubble, badge, corners) with text like "SCAN ME" help people notice the code and scan it.

Tips for print and scanning

  • Size: at least 2 × 2 cm (0.8 in) on flyers and cards; for posters, about one tenth of the scanning distance (20 cm for 2 m).
  • Contrast: a dark code on a light background is safest. Light codes on dark backgrounds fail on some phones; the tool warns you.
  • Quiet zone: leave empty space around the code so text and patterns don't touch it.
  • SVG for print: vector files stay sharp at any size, which printers and sign makers prefer.
  • Keep it short: shorter links make simpler codes that scan more easily.
  • Test before printing: use "Test scan", then scan it with a few different phones.

Static QR codes: no expiry, no tracking

The QR codes made here are static: the content sits inside the code and no redirect server sits in between. So the code never expires, you never need a paid plan, and nothing is collected about the people who scan it.

The only limit is that a printed static code can't be edited. If your link may change later, use an address on your own domain that you control; you can then change where it redirects without reprinting the code.

Privacy

The QR code is created entirely in your browser. Your link, Wi-Fi password, contact details and logo are never uploaded or stored. The page only remembers your design preferences (colors, pattern, frame) in this browser.

Frequently asked questions

Is the QR code generator free?

Yes. It's completely free, with no sign-up and no watermark, and you can use the codes commercially.

Do the QR codes expire?

No. They're static: the content is inside the code, so they work forever.

Will a QR code with a logo still scan?

Yes. Adding a logo automatically raises error correction to the highest level. Don't make the logo too big, and check with "Test scan".

How does a Wi-Fi QR code work?

The phone camera reads the network name and password and offers to join with one tap. Current iPhone and Android versions support it.

Which format should I download for print?

SVG for printers and large prints; PNG for social media and digital use.

Can I see how many times it was scanned?

No. Static codes don't pass through a server, so scans aren't counted, which also protects the privacy of the people scanning.
